RebateRight API Documentation

One API for Medicare, DVA, the AIR and the MBS

The RebateRight API connects your software to Medicare, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). RebateRight handles the connection to each government system, so your software works with one API.

Medicare Integration

Verify patients, check eligibility and lodge claims through one API.

DVA Integration

Verify veterans and lodge medical claims for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

AIR Integration

Access vaccination records on the Australian Immunisation Register, including for patients without Medicare.

MBS

Look up the full Medicare Benefits Schedule from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing: more than 6,000 items with fees, rebates and structured rules. RebateRight loads each MBS release, so you have nothing to update.

Getting Started

Complete first-time setup

In the RebateRight app, open First-time setup and work through activation. You will finish with 3 credentials: a Minor ID, an API Key for production and a Test API Key for the test environment. Each key works only on its own host, as set out in Required headers and hosts. If you use only the web app, it sends your Minor ID and API Key for you. Claiming and the AIR also need each clinic registered with Services Australia, as set out in Minor ID Setup.

Environments

Two environments are available. Use test while you build, check and demonstrate your integration with test patient data. Switch to production when you are ready to go live.

Point your AI pipelines at the index, then fetch each page as Markdown:

  • /llms.txt: an index of every page
  • Add .md to any page URL to get that page in Markdown, for example /test-data.md

The URLs are stable, and the content updates with every release.
