Use RebateRight alongside your current software
You can move to RebateRight in one step, or run it beside your current software while you gain confidence. Both ways keep your bulk bill claims flowing, and both need a RebateRight Minor ID for your clinic, as What is a Minor ID? explains.
Two ways to move
Run both for a while
Each practitioner who will claim through RebateRight needs a second provider number.
Apply for a second provider number
Medical practitioners use the HW019 form. Allied health professionals, nurse practitioners and midwives use the form for their profession, which Apply for additional provider numbers names.
Give the same address, with one addition
Write exactly the same street address as your current provider number, then add something that tells the two apart, such as a suite number (1.1 or 1a) or a floor. This is the approach Services Australia advised.
Email the form to Services Australia
Send it to provider.registration@servicesaustralia.gov.au. In the email, say you need the new number to claim online through 2 software providers, and what you added to the address. This stops Services Australia changing the address on your current provider number by mistake.
Link the new provider number to RebateRight
When Services Australia issues the new numbers, complete the HW027 form with the first new number and your RebateRight Minor ID. Link the other practitioners’ new numbers through Medicare eBusiness. Register a clinic for claiming shows how.
Services Australia also takes this application online in HPOS, under My provider numbers, as Create a new provider location. We recommend the form and the email, because the email explains why you need the second number and what you added to the address.
Switch fully
When you are ready to claim only through RebateRight, send the HW027 form with your original provider number as well. Then claim through RebateRight with it.
Tell us how you plan to move at hello@rebateright.com.au, and we help you through each form.
